5.3.4 Kapha imbalance

Kapha will first collect in the stomach (bloating, indigestion), become disturbed (nausea, heaviness), then it moves up to the lungs or down to the intestines (coughs, vomiting, mucus). Now comes the manifestation of disease (diabetes, obesity), followed by some chronic illness.

The further along the disease process is, the more difficult it is to cure. It is therefore advisable to pay attention to the small signs of your body rather than ignoring them until they become a manifested illness. Also, the humors will always find the easiest way to move out of their home. This means that if you have a weak knee, vata will move first into that, as vata loves joints. Vata causes muscular pain and cramps as well. In fact, the weak points of your body will always suffer first when one of the humors starts moving out of its home and looks for a weak spot.
