9.2 Dosha (humor / constitution) and COLOUR


In Ayurveda each of the three humors is associated with a color. Colors of wastes are somewhat different from external colors., Like that for the complexion. Wastes have these color associations: vata with brown or black; pitta with yellow or green; and kapha with white. External or body parts are like this: vata is darkish, pitta is reddish, and kapha is pale or white. These colors are very helpful to distinguish which humor is in excess. These excesses can be seen on the tongue, in he stool and in the phlegm coughed up from the lungs or stomach. Externally they can be seen in complexion or on the skin in specific areas, such as the abdomen.
